Jumma girl raped in Manikchari

chtnews.com News No. 15/2012, March 25, 2012 AN 11-year old Jumma girl has been reportedly raped by two bangali youths in Manikchari under Khagrachari district. The victim, daughter of Thoi Aungyo Marma of Bholachola village, is a class five student of a BRAC-run school in the area. According to sources, on 23 March, Friday, the victim went to Chowmuhoni Bazaar in Kanchanpur under Fatikchari Upazila to sell coal. As she reached Gorjonkhola on her way back home alone, Md. Saddam son of Serajul Islam from Kanchanpur and his friend Md. Anis grabbed her, took her to a roadside jungle and then raped her. A case has been filed with Fatikchari police station under Women and Child Repression Act in connection with the incident, it is learnt. Police arrested Saddam, the rapist. Meanwhile, the Hill Students Council held a demonstration in Guimara yesterday in protest against the incident. The protesters marched from Guimara High School gate to Guimara bazaar. Student leader Chirojyoti Chakma addressed a rally that followed the protest march.
