ARMED MEN loyal to Santu Larma have shot and wounded a leader of the Jana Samhati Samiti (M. N. Larma) in Merung of Dighinala Upazila in Khagrachari district, sources have said.

Priti Khisha, 45, son of Purnosur Khisha was shot when he, along with his four colleagues, was returning from a meeting in the village of Joutha Khamar No. 2 in Choto Merung.

Mr. Khisha is the general secretary of Dighinala Upazila unit of the M. N. Larma faction of the PCJSS, and younger brother of Dighinala Upazila vice president, Supriya Chakma.

The incident occurred at about 4pm today, Sunday. The armed men lay in wait for them in the nearby jungle.
A bullet pierced through his right leg below the knee, another through his left ear, while yet another hit the chin.

He was rushed to Khagrachari hospital but the attending doctors referred him to Chittagong Medical College Hospital for better treatment.

‘We were on our way back home after the meeting when we came under attack. Three of us were few meters ahead of Priti and another activist. It was by sheer luck that none of us got killed.’ said one of the victims.

PCJSS (M. N. Larma) condemned the attack as cowardice and blamed its rival Santu Larma faction for it.
