A 16-YEAR old girl has been raped in Jaruliachari under
Nakyongchari Upazila in Bandarban district, according to a news report
published in Suprobhat Bangladesh
today.
A case has been filed with the police in this connection,
the daily added, but stopped short of revealing the victim’s identity including
her ethnicity.
The incident happened at 12 noon on 2 September when
Shamshul Alam, 36, son of Abdus Salam, and Monjur Alam, 22, son of Monu Mian of
Jaruliachari attacked the girl while she was coming back home after tethering
her cows up in the hill.
When she screamed for help, people from nearby areas rushed
to the spot and rescued her.
Later at 6pm she
lodged a complained with the police station against her assaulters on charge of
rape.
On 5 September, the police arrested Shamshul Alam from
Nakyongchari bazaar and sent him to the court.
Police Sub-inspector Mohammad Abul Kalam said, ‘The victim
has gone through medical tests, and we’ll be able to confirm after DNA test,
which is now underway.’
The police are conducting searches for the other accused,
Monjur Alam, he added.
