SUSPECTED
gunmen today shot at Satyo Ranjan Chakma alias Sorkarjya, 48, son of late Khad
Chandra Chakma, a UPDF supporter, at Chowmuhony (Shapla Chatwar) in Baghaichari
town in Rangamati district.
The
shooting took place at 4:15pm,
according to sources.
‘Satyo
Ranjan was returning home after watching Durga Puja, a Hidu religious festival,
in Baghaichari bazaar, when Santu Larma loyalists opened fire on him.’ an
eyewitness told chtnews.com.
The
armed miscreants, led by Biplob Chakma, came on two motorbikes.
“But
they missed the target and Satyo escaped unhurt. It was a close call.’ he
added.
After
the failed attack, the Santu men fled through Bot-tola road towards Sizok doar,
a JSS (Santu faction) stronghold.
