A FOUR-YEAR old Marma girl was raped by a Chakma youth in Naniachar in Rangamati district on 12 December, Wednesday.

The police arrested Jiko Chakma, 20, in connection with the incident.

Locals and the victim’s parents said, at about 10pm on the day of incident Ziko Chakma of Bihar Para lured the girl, his neighbour, to Kinapoti Janabal Buddhist temple and then raped her.

As the girl screamed and wailed in pain, nearby villagers and the temple’s guard rushed there and caught Ziko Chakma. He was later handed over to the police.

The girl was admitted first to Naniachar Upazila Health complex in critical condition and later shifted to Chittagong Medical College Hospital for better treatment.
