A JUMMA girl has been raped by a Bengali youth in Gazirchot
area of Ashulia, some 24 kilometers north of Bangladesh
capital Dhaka, sources say.
The 13-year old was abducted on 5 January and taken to a
place near Tazrin Fashions Ltd. – the garment factory became known worldwide
for the recent fire incident that killed 112 workers – and was raped.
Hailing from the village
of Korollyachari under Maischari
Union in Khagrachari district, she worked as a house maid in a Jumma house in
Burir Bazaar of Ahsulia. She belongs to Chakma community, sources added.
The police rescued her yesterday from Pobnar Tek in Bhatail
area and arrested the rapist.
He has been identified as Toufiq Islam from Barigaon of
Goforgaon in Mymensing district.
She was first admitted to a hospital in Savar in critical
condition and then sifted to Dhaka Medical
College hospital for better
treatment.
A case has been filed with Ashulia police station in this
connection.
