MEMBERS of the Border Guards Bangladesh arrested Kolin Kumar Tripura, 35, son of Dharmajoy
Tripura in Matiranga of Khagrachari district.

resident of Apurno Mahajon Para village under Amtoli Union in Matiranga
Upazila, Mr Tripura was arrested on 1 February around 7pm while on his way back home from work in Birashi Mura
village.

members led by Lt. Col,
Nuruzzaman from Palashpur BGB zone made the arrest.
BGB
claimed that he was in illegal possession of a firearm at the time of arrest,
but the claim has not been corroborated by independent sources.
A
villager said the firearm was not recovered from him but was placed in his
hands before handing him over to the police in Matiranga Thana.
A
case has been instituted against him (case No. 01, dated 02.02.2013) and he was
sent to Khagrachari jail the next day.
