A JUMMA girl was kidnapped by some Bengali youths in Chittagong yesterday, Wednesday, but was released about 10 hours later in the evening.

Yori Marma, 20, lives in a rented house with his brother at Shersha area of Chittagong and works with Asian Garment Factory in the same area.

At seven in the morning, she went to Bayezid area to collect some medicine and fell victim to the kidnappers. Four Bengali youths took her away.

Later, the kidnappers phoned her brother, Khuicha Aung Marma, from a mobile number (01776337504) to demand a Taka 50 thousand ransom.

They also told him that his sister was ‘safe’ and that she would be released at 3pm.

“The kidnappers asked me to go to Chak Bazar with the money.’ Khuicha Aung said.

The news of the incident sent Jummas in Shersha a Bayezid area into a panic and in the afternoon they filed a general diary with the Bayezid police station.

However, Yori Marma was released in the evening. No ransom was paid for her release.

But the kidnappers did not return her mobile hand set, money and a golden necklace.
