News No. 34/2013, Thursday, March 28, 2013

TWO UPDF supporters were kidnapped but released later by Santu Group in Chittagong last night.

According to sources, Santu Group men led by Babu Chakma and Jibon Chakma kidnapped the two from a rented room on the second floor of Zahed Building in Bandar Thana of Chittagong at 10:15pm Wednesday.

The victims have been identified as Amar Bikash Chakma, 19, (son of Dulia Chakma and Hokbi Chakma) and Rubel Chakma, 19, (son of Juddho Mohan Chakma and Kinamala Chakma), both from Abashik in Kudukchari of Rangamati district.

They came to Chittagong a few days ago to seek employment at factories in Chittagong Export Processing Zone.

The kidnappers took them to Ambia Bhaban in the same area and beat them up before releasing them at midnight under pressure from law enforcement agencies including RAB and the police.

However, the police failed to arrest the Santu group men who have been terrorising innocent Jummas in the area.
