Santu group kidnaps three villagers in Dighinala

THREE villagers have been kidnapped by an armed gang loyal to Santu Larma in Babuchara under Dighinala Upazila in Khagrachari district, prompting UPDF to demand their immediate release.

According to sources, Santu Group loyalists raided the villages of Jarulchari Doar and Lambachara last night, at 1:30am to be exact, and kidnapped them at gun point.

Zishan Chakma, 29, son of Buddha Dhan Chakma was picked up from his house in the village of Jarulchari Doar, while Shanti Priya Chakma, 32, son of Noyon Kumar Chakma and Choga Chakma, 42, son of Kalendra Chakma were abducted from Lambachara village under Babuchara Union.

The United Peoples’ Democratic Front (UPDF) Dighinala Unit in a statement has condemned the kidnapping of the three innocent villagers and demanded their immediate release.

UPDF leader Kishor Chakma urged Santu group to shun the politics of murder, kidnapping and terrorism and join the struggle of the Jumma people for full autonomy.
