AN activist of the M N Larma faction of the Jana Samhati Samiti has been shot dead by its rival Santu Larma faction in Merung under Dighinala Upazila in Khagrachari district.
The incident took place at about 8am today, 2 July at a place called Tajtila in the village of Purno Chandra Karbari Para under Merung Union.
The victim, Miton Chakma alias Rabi, 40, son of late Battya Chakma, came under attack when he went out on his motorbike.
As soon as he reached Tajtila, four armed men loyal to Santu Larma opened fire on him, killing him on the spot.
Two bullets hit in his chest, one in the head and another in an armpit, eyewitnesses said.
The gunmen fled the scene soon after the incident. The police rushed to the spot and recovered the dead body.
