KARBARI of village chief has been kidnapped by an armed gang loyal to
Santu Larma in Sajek under Baghaichari Upazila in Rangamati district.
50-year old Hulomoni Chakma, chief of village No. 8 in Sajek Union, was snatched from his home on Thursday night.
His family members said that a group of armed men came to their home at 10pm and took him away and that they believed the men belonged to Santu group.
“The armed gang asked us to contact them this morning (Friday) at Shoyonchara” they added.
It
is not immediately known why Hulomoni was targeted. However, the local
villagers think the motivation might be to extract ransom.
