One arrested by army in Laxmichari

THE ARMY arrested a Jumma shop keeper from Laxmichari under Khagrachari district, after placing a light gun (LG) in his hand, local people said.
According to sources, a group of army personnel from Laxmichari zone on  Tuesday night arrested Probil Chakma, 40, from his shop at Beltoli Para in  Laxmichari Sadar Upazila.
He is a field supervisor of ‘One home, one farm’ project undertaken by the present government.
Probil was first taken to Laxmichari army zone headquarters after arrest before handing him over to the police at 10pm, his father Sonadhan Chakma said.
The army placed a home-made LG (Light Gun) in his hand, eyewitnesses said, adding the soldiers also searched other shops owned by Jumma people.

Super Joti Chakma, the newly elected Laxmichari Upazila chairman, confirmed Probil’s arrest.
