THE army arrested a UPDF activist
and two Jumma youths from a remote village in Panchari, Khagrachari district in
a predawn raid today, Saturday, and handed them over to the police, locals
said.
After the arrest, the army placed
three rickety guns in their hands and then photographed, eyewitnesses said.
According to sources, a group of
army men led by Major Mehedi from Panchari zone raided the village of Prafulla
Para near Matiranga border at 4am and arrested the three Jummas from a house.
The name of the owner of the house
could not be known immediately.
The arrested UPDF activist, Sunil
Bikash Tripura, 36, was sleeping in the house along with Suren Tripura, 24, son
of Naba Kumar Tripura, and Mohen Tripura, 25, son of Milon Bhushan Tripura,
when the arrest was made.
Suren and Mohen were also arrested
in the raid. All three hail from Padmini village in Panchari Upazila.
