TWO activists of the M. N. Larma faction of the Jana Samhati Samiti have been shot dead by its rival Santu Larma faction in Baghaichari of Rangamati district.

According to sources, a group of armed men belonging to Santu Larma faction of the JSS raided the village of Madyochara in Rubber Plantation Project No. 1 under Rupakari Union in the early hours today and shot dead Tridev Chakma, 40, and Sushanta Chakma, 37.

They are brothers (son of Kamini Kishore Karbari) and members of the JSS M. N. Larma faction, which broke away from Santu Larma in 2006 over his autocratic behaviour and indulgence in corruption.
Both of them have been shot and killed while sleeping.

The terrorists made sure that they were dead and then left the scene.

The officer-in-charge of Baghaichari police station, Azizur Rahman, confirmed the incident and said his men were being sent to the place of occurrence.
