THE military-backed Borkha Party vigilante group kidnapped two persons from in front of Laxmichari army zone headquarters and released them half an hour later on payment of a ransom.

The victims – Nirodh Chakma, 34, son of Kala Mohan Chakma of village Shilachari and Aungshila Marma, 22, a member of the Democratic Youth Forum and son of Mongsha Thoai Marma – were on their way to Laxmichari bazaar on a motorbike when the Borkha Party terrorists abducted them.

They took them to an undisclosed location in Laxmichari town and released them at 12 noon on condition that they would pay a ransom of Taka 10,000 ($125).

Earlier, yesterday the Borkha Party terrorists made an attempt to attack members and supporters of the Hill Students’ Council at Laxmichari bazaar in the presence of the army and police, who did nothing to prevent them.

When the PCP prepared to defend themselves, the army personnel took them (PCP) to Laxmichari zone, instead of taking any action against the Borkha terrorists, and released them later.
