MEMBERS of the
military-backed Borkha Party tortured three villagers, including the head of a
village, in Tin-tehori under Manikchari Upazila in Khagrachari district on
Saturday night.
According to sources,
around 11:40pm, on Saturday night, six members of the notorious Bhorkha Party,
also patronized by Santu Group, raided Dhebachari village in Tin-tehori area and
snatched Kong Hla Aung Marma, 52, the head of the village, and Dhunkyo Jai
Marma, 20, another villager at gun point.
The armed men, led by
Maya Dhan Chakma and Nakul Tripura, also raided the house of Mrasau Marma, but
as they did not find him, they kicked his wife, Nionma Marma, to vent their
ire.
The Borkha men took
the both to a road between two villages – Debatoli and Kumari, beat them badly
and then left them there.
Later, Dhunkyo Jai
somehow returned to the village and informed the villagers about the incident.
On his information,
the villagers rescued Kong Hla Aung Marma and admitted him to Manikchari Health
Complex in critical condition.
