A 4-YEAR-OLD Jumma
girl was subjected to an attempted rape on Thursday by a Bengali settler in
Kanungo Para under Panchari Upazila.
The victim has been
admitted to Panchari Upazila Health Complex, with injuries to her genital area.
The girl’s mother said
that on Thursday, about 4pm, she and her neighbour had taken their two
children to a nearby stream to take a bath.
After bath, the two
women came back home, leaving behind the two children in the river.
Taking advantage of
their mothers’ absence, one Md. Lalon Mian, 35, who was grazing cows in a
nearby field, attempted to rape one of the girls.
Hearing her cry, a
neighbouring woman rushed there and found Lalon Mian, a resident of Islampur
village, washing the blood from his victim’s body.
However, he was able
to escape before the girl was rescued.
The victim’s father
filed a case with Panchari police station under Suppression of Women and
Children Repression Act, but the culprit is yet to be arrested.
