The army
reportedely tortured two Bengali settlers after rounding them up from their
homes in Ramgarh Upazila under Khagrachari district.
The incident
took place on Wednesday, 14 January. The victims have been indentified as Md.
Jashim,32 son of Taleb Uddin of village Kalapani, Hapchari union, Ramgarh
Upazila and Md. Nazrul Islam alias Babul, 32 son of late Abul Basar from
Sindukchari Union of Mohalchari Upazila. Both of them earn a living by carrying
passengers on motorbikes.
According to
local sourses, a group of army personnel from Sindukchari Zone arrested Jasim
and Babul from their respective homes on charge carrying UPDF activists on
their motor bikes and took them to their camp.
The army beat
them up and detained them the whole nigth
before setting them free the next day.
