A
10-YEAR-OLD Jumma girl was raped in Kalompati Union under Kaokhali Upazila in
Rangamati District on Wednesday, 14 January.
The
police arrested Ayub Ali, 40, son of Khandakar Suruj Mian in connection with
the incident.
According
to sources, the victim, a class two Student of Kaokhali Govt. Primary School,
was on her way back home from a local shop when Ayub grabbed and forced her
into the jungle and raped her.
Her
father said, "My daughter just came from school, changed her school dress
and went to the shop to buy grocery. When she was returning home, Ayub, a
Bengali settler who was working in his paddy field, attacked her at Bangal Tila
in Kashkhali village."
The
victim was first admitted to Kaokhali Health Complex with serious wounds and
later shifted to Chittagong Medical Collage Hospital for better treatment.
Nilu
Khanti Borua, officer-in-charge of Kaokhali police station, said that Ayuab Ali
was arrested immediately after the victim's father lodged a complaint.
"The
victim identified the perpetrator'', he said, adding the police would take
necessary steps after medical examination of the victim.
