Army conducts searches in Bormachari

The army on Tuesday searched five houses, two shops and a Buddhist temple in Tonuram Para under Bormachari Union in Laxmichari Upazilla.

Three vehicles-loads of army personnel from Laxmichari zone conducted the search at 11p.m on 3 February.

The army had said they were looking for terrorists.

The houses searched belong to Nanda Kumar Chakma (45) son of late Dhirendra Chakma, his brother Mongol Kumar Chakma (40), Kalendra Chakma(42) son of late Mahendra Chakma, his brother Subal Chakma(35) and Pochonda Moni Chakma(28), son of late Bira Sen Chakma.

The soldiers also entered and searched Benuban Buddhist Temple and two shops during the raid.

One of the shops belongs to Shashi Kishta Chakma, while the identity of the owner of the other shop could not be known.

No terrorist was found during the search and the army personnel went back to Shuknachari camp in Bormachari.
