THE POLICE on Thursday arrested two Jummas on
suspicion of being involved with a 13 March clash with the police in Kamalchari,
Khagrachari.
The suspects – Chitta Bikash Chakma (45) son of Tara
Mohan Chakma from Khalpar, Kamalchari and Sajeeb Talukder (30) son of Chitta
Kishor Talukder from Betchari Mukhpara – were arrested separately from two
different locations in Khagrachari.
Chitta Bikash was arrested at 10 a.m. when he was on
his way to Khagrachari bazar, while Sajeeb was picked up from a shop at
Kamalchari.
On 13 March, local gamblers had set up “Dabbo Khela”,
a sort of gambling, on the occasion of 1ooth anniversary of the founding of
Kamalchari Mukh Primary School paying off the police.
But as DB police did not receive any kickbacks, they
had gone to Kamalchari to prevent the gamblers, resulting in a clash between
them.
At least 11 persons including three police officers
were injured in the clash.
Later the police filed a case with Khagrachari
police station against 160 persons in connection with the incident.----------------
