One arrested by RAB in Khagrachari

News No. 89/2015: Thursday, June 18, 2015

MEMBERS of the Rapid Action Battalion detained a Jumma man named Avik Chakma yesterday from Atmile area on Khagrachari - Dighinala road following an alleged shootout with miscreants.

However, the police said they had no information on the incident, which reportedly took place on Wednesday afternoon.

RAB sources claimed that they had recovered two foreign-made pistols and 18 rounds of bullets following the skirmish.

Lt. Col. Mishta, commander of RAB-7 (Chittagong Uinit), confirmed the incident, saying ‘There was an exchange of fire between the two sides as we proceeded to arrest Avik.’

‘However in the face of resistance from the RAB side, the miscreants could not hold out and staged a retreat,'’ he added.

He said Avik Chakma had identified himself as a resident of Marishya of Rangamati district, and that he was taken to Chittagong.
