Police attempts to rape Jumma woman in Sajek

A POLICE personnel on Friday made an attempt to rape a Jumma women in Ujo bazar area in Sajek, according to sources.

The 21-year-old victim, mother of a child, was at home when Md. Sarwar, a police constable deployed to Ujo bazar police post, attacked her.

The policeman asked for a glass of drinking water and when she came with it he grabbed her and tried to rape her.

The incident took place at 4 pm and she was alone at home.

The victim struggled and shouted for help. Hearing her cry, her neighbours came out to her rescue.

Sarwar then let go off her and escaped, with Jumma women chasing him.
He ran to his duty post where other policemen and army personnel protected him from the angry mob and sent him back to Baghaihat police camp in a military vehicle.

According to a latest report, the victim filed a case with the police station and the local residents held a rally today demanding that Sarwar be punished and the Ujo bazar police post be withdraw immediately.
