A JUMMA woman was raped
on Sunday, March 20, after a Bengali settler lured her into a jungle in
Patachara Union of Ramgarh Upazila, Khagrachari district, according to sources.
The 28-year-old victim
is a divorcee and lives with her mother in the village of Pakla-para, Ramgarh.
On Sunday morning, Nurul
Huda, 31, (son of late Abu Taher of village Ananda Nagar, Ramgarh) a day
labourer working on Navanga road, took her into a roadside jungle and raped
her.
When informed, the local
people went there and nabbed Nurul on the spot.
Later four pickup loads
of army personnel arrived there, and the army officer settled the issue by
making Nurul to agree to pay the victim Taka 20 thousand as ‘compensation’.
The army then took him
into their ‘custody’.
