School boy arrested during search operation in Dighinala

THE army on Monday searched six houses, two of them belonging to two school teachers, and arrested a 16-year-old school boy in Kripapur village under Kobakhali Union in Dighinala Upazila of Khagrachari district.

The soldiers from Dighinala cantonment conducted the searches that lasted several hours.

They at first surrounded the village at 1:30 p.m. and then using a loud speaker asked the ‘terrorists’ to come out.

As no terrorists came out, the army fired four rounds of blank shots before proceeding to search the houses.

They turned the houses upside down, throwing things around, but found neither any terrorist nor any incriminating materials.

Later the soldiers took the inmates of the houses, including the local UP member Supon Chakma and the head of the village (Karbari) Ashwini Kumar Chakma, into their custody.

The army arrested Supriyo Chakma, 16, a student of class ten of Chongrachari High School and son of Nigira Mohan Chakma of Moner Manush village in Merung Union, Dighinala.

The houses searched belong to Manek Ranjan Chakma, 55, son of late Buddhi Chandra Chakma; Chokko Chakma, 35; Prottoy Chakma, 42, son of late Ornandra Chakma; Kamini Ranjan Chakma, 48, son of late Ornanda Chakma; Jagadish Chakma, 45, and Kiron Bikash Chakma, 34.

Of them, the latter two are teachers of Shantipur High School.
