The United People’s Democratic Front (UPDF) has alleged that the
army looted the house of one of its members in Jubonashaw Para, under Chengi
Union of Panchari Upazila in Khagrachari district.
UPDF spokesperson Aongay Marma has condemned the incident.
In a statement to the media today (Tuesday, November 11, 2025), he
said: “Around 5 a.m. today, two groups of about 200 army personnel — one from
the Panchari sub-zone and the other from Batyapara — surrounded Jubonanashaw
Para and broke into the house of UPDF member Probhat Chakma.
After entering, the army personnel allegedly looted homeopathic
medicines stored in the house, bottles used for dispensing medicines to
patients, and other medical equipment. They also took away an IPS (power backup
unit), a 200-amp solar battery, and various household items.
The owners of the battery and IPS are Bhubon Mohan Chakma, Monu
Ranjan Chakma, and Kulo Ranjan Chakma, sons of Padma Ranjan Chakma.”
It has also been reported that the soldiers instructed the villagers
to demolish the said UPDF member’s house.
Aongay Marma stated that the homeopathic medicines were stored in
the house to provide free medical treatment to local residents. He appealed for
the immediate return of the medicines and other items on humanitarian grounds.
He further mentioned that on October 6, 2025, the army had
previously conducted a search operation at the same house. At that time too,
after finding nothing illegal, the soldiers allegedly took away women’s and
children’s clothing, as well as household tools such as sickles and machetes,
and even damaged children’s toys.
The UPDF leader demanded an immediate end to harassment and looting
of civilians in the name of so-called operations.
