The army soldiers
on Monday night (24 November) searched four shops belonging to Jumma people,
including that of Sumita Chakma, a member of Ghilachari Union Council, in
Ghilachari bazaar under Naniachar Upazila of Rangamati district.
According to local
sources, in a joint operation a group of army personnel from Rangamati Brigade
and Ghilachari camp raided Ghilachari bazaar and searched the shops.
The soldiers first
tried to break into the shops, but when the owners got the news of the army’s
action, they went there and opened their shops for the army.
The shops belong to
Sumita Chakma, Krishna Banshi Chakma, 35, Mongol Chakma, 26, and Motilal
Chakma.
The army also
snatched away their mobile phones and checked the phone numbers saved on the
phones.
The army later left
the bazaar as they found nothing incriminating during the search.
