Army Searches home in Baghaichhari, Surrounds UP Member’s residence

The Bangladesh Army soldiers searched the home of a villager and surrounded the residence of a Union Parishad (UP) member in the Nua Dokan area of Ward 1, Bongoltuli Union No. 35, Baghaichhari upazila in Rangamati, according to reports from the area.

The incident took place this morning, Monday (August 11, 2025).

The villager whose house was searched has been identified as Chakra Chakma (45), son of the late Lanka Chakma.

At the same time, the army also surrounded the house of Shubho Shanti Chakma, the elected member of Ward 1 of Bongoltuli Union Parishad, and called him out to the yard. They questioned him about whether members of the “UPDF” (United People's Democratic Front) had been present there the previous day (Sunday).

However, Shubho Shanti Chakma responded to the army saying, “I was at my shop all day yesterday, I have no knowledge of such activity.”

According to locals, at around 8:15 AM, one group of army personnel arrived in two pickup trucks from the Baghaichari Zone, while another group came from the Karengatoli Sub-zone in two more vehicles to conduct the raid in Nua Dokan.

As of the time this report was written, locals reported that the army personnel were still stationed at Nua Dokan.
