An indigenous Jumma motorcycle rider was detained by the army
in the Baropilak Vaishnav Para area of Guimara upazila, Khagrachhari. It has
been reported that after the detention, a weapon was planted on him and he was
falsely presented as a member of the United People's Democratic Front (UPDF)
before being handed over to the police station.
The incident took place last night, Monday (August 11, 2025).
The detained person has been identified as Kalaifa Tripura
(26), son of Dayal Bhushan Tripura, from Vaishnav Para village, Hafchhari
Union, Guimara, Khagrachhari.
According to reports, Kalaifa Tripura was returning home
after a full day of working as a motorcycle driver. Around 9 PM, when he
reached an area called “Doctor Rubber Plantation” on the Baropilak–Vaishnav
Para road, a group of army personnel who had been lying in wait stopped his
motorcycle. He was then detained along with his motorcycle and taken to the
army camp.
Sources said that members of the local vigilante group were
also present with the army at the time.
On Tuesday morning (August 12), he was handed over to Guimara
Police Station after a weapon was allegedly planted on him and he was labeled
as a UPDF member.
