Army personnel allegedly carried out a search operation at the homes of two villagers in Shuknachara village of Boraitali, Jorabridge area, under Ward 3 of Kabakhali Union in Khagrachari’s Dighinala Upazila.

According to local sources, around midnight on Sunday (23 November 2025), a team of soldiers from the Dighinala Zone raided Shuknachara village. During the operation, they reportedly broke into the two houses, entered, and conducted an intensive search. The soldiers are said to have ransacked the interiors and damaged household belongings.

The residents whose homes were searched are Litton Chakma (41), son of Shanti Jibon Chakma, and Ratan Chakma (39), son of Jatna Bikash Chakma.

Despite the extensive search, no illegal items were found, and the soldiers later returned to their camp.

Locals report that incidents of military harassment, raids, and intrusive searches have increased in Dighinala in recent weeks. Such late-night operations have generated fear as well as resentment and frustration among residents.

Meanwhile, since 18 November, a group of army personnel has been stationed at a temporary camp set up beside a Buddhist monastery in Juddho Mohan Karbari Para of Ward 5 under Dighinala Union, from where they have been conducting patrols in the surrounding areas.
