Residents of Taichakma Para and Choto Belchari Para in
Ward 5 of Patachara Union, Ramgarh Upazila of Khagrachari district, have
expressed anxiety and alarm after members of the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB)
visited their villages and questioned them about “where the hill people are
building houses.”
According to local sources, at around 9:00 a.m. on
Tuesday (25 November 2025), a team of ten BGB personnel arrived in the two
villages. During the visit, they questioned residents on several issues,
including inquiries about the locations where indigenous villagers might be
constructing new homes. The team later returned to their camp.
The unexpected questioning has caused unease and
concern among the indigenous residents.
Meanwhile, around the same time, another group of ten
BGB personnel was reportedly stationed near the Nangel Para Buddhist temple.
Locals said that this group did not interrogate anyone and left after remaining
in the area for about half an hour.
