A heavy presence of army personnel in Panchari of
Khagrachari district has caused fear and anxiety among local residents.
According to sources, today, Monday (29 December
2025), at around 4:00 a.m., a large number of army personnel arrived in
different areas of Panchari using 15 vehicles from the Panchari Sub-Zone and
Khagrachari Sadar Zone.
Initially, 80–90 army personnel arrived in the Tarabon
area using 8 vehicles, while another 70–80 personnel entered the Tripurabil
area via Nicher Pujgang using 7 vehicles.
At present, army personnel are reportedly stationed in
Rajkumar Para, Batye Para, Tarabon, Jagpara Samiti Ambagan (Mango Garden), an
abandoned BGB camp site, Borkalok, Logang Korolyachari High School, and the
Dumbil area under Chengi Union.
On the other hand, it has been reported that armed
members of the JSS (Santu Group) have ordered lunch for about 80 people in the
Korolyachari area. According to local sources, they are positioned only a few
hundred yards away from the army personnel.
