The army reportedly carried out searches at the homes of two individuals in the Kumardhan Roaza Para area under Bhaibonchara Union of Khagrachari Sadar Upazila.

According to local sources, at around 11:30 a.m. today, Friday (30 January 2026), a team of army personnel entered Kumardhan Roaza Para and conducted intrusive searches at the homes of local residents Upendra Tripura and Manendra Tripura. The soldiers thoroughly searched all corners of the houses, including wardrobes, and scattered various household items, leaving them strewn across the courtyards.

At the time, Upendra Tripura was attending a Namjogga religious ceremony at the Radha-Krishna Temple in a nearby grove. His visually impaired wife, Makalakshi Tripura, was present at the house.

Meanwhile, no one was at Manendra Tripura’s house. His wife and other family members had gone to Bamagomati to attend a wedding ceremony.

Local residents also reported that the soldiers picked and drank coconuts free of charge from coconut trees beside the houses.

As of the time of filing this report, local residents said that army personnel were still present in the courtyards of the houses of Upendra Tripura and Manendra Tripura, accompanied by the village karbari (traditional village chief).
