An Indigenous man was allegedly attacked and seriously
injured with a sharp weapon by a Muslim settler in a dispute over land in
Ganjpara of Joggyachhola Union No. 3, Manikchhari Upazila, Khagrachhari
District.
According to local sources, Ugyajai Marma, a resident
of Ganjpara, had been involved in a long-standing land dispute with Md. Sajib,
the son of Jibon Master, a Muslim settler from the same area.
The incident reportedly occurred on Sunday, June 28,
2026, when tensions between the two sides escalated. Md. Sajib allegedly
attacked Ugyajai Marma with a machete, inflicting serious injuries.
Local residents quickly rescued the injured man and
took him to the Manikchhari Upazila Health Complex, where he is currently
receiving treatment.
The incident has reportedly heightened tensions in the
area.
Local residents expressed hope that the authorities
will conduct a fair investigation into the incident and take appropriate legal
action against those found responsible.
