Three Alleged UPDF Members Detained by Army in Matiranga

The Bangladesh Army detained three alleged members of the United People's Democratic Front (UPDF) early Thursday in the Rekhyung area of Matiranga Upazila, Khagrachhari district, according to local sources.

The arrests took place at approximately 3:30 a.m. when army personnel from the Matiranga Zone surrounded a private residence in the Baillyachhari-Rekhyung area where the three men had spent the night.

The detainees were identified as Hlaprusai Marma, 30, of Lakkhasi Para in Hafchhari Union, Guimara; Tejendra Chakma, 27, of Kala Para village in Guimara Sadar Union; and Bishwa Tripura, 28, of Monsi Para village in Matiranga Sadar Union.

All three were being held at the Matiranga Army Zone as of the time of this report. No charges had been announced, and it was not immediately clear why the men were at the residence.
