The United People’s Democratic Front (UPDF) has
condemned and protested the alleged eviction of 35 Marma families by the Arakan
Rohingya Salvation Army (ARSA), referred to as RSO in the original statement,
in Jalia Para village in Naikhongchhari Upazila, Bandarban District.
In a statement issued to the media on Tuesday, October
27, 2026, UPDF spokesperson Angya Marma made the allegation and denounced the
incident.
Expressing concern, Angya Marma said that on October
25, 35 Marma families were allegedly forced from their homes in Jalia Para, a
predominantly Marma village in Dochhari Union of Naikhongchhari Upazila, by
RSO, an armed group of Rohingya refugees from Myanmar. He alleged that
following the evictions, the villagers’ cattle, goats, and other belongings
were looted and the entire village was forcibly occupied.
Citing local residents, he said some villagers had
been forced to flee across the border into Myanmar because of security
concerns, while other families had left their homes and taken shelter in Marma
villages in Naikhongchhari town.
Alleging that the Bangladesh government was supporting
Rohingya armed groups and using them against Indigenous people in the
Chittagong Hill Tracts, Angya Marma said residents of the Naikhongchhari area
were now being forced to live under severe security threats.
The UPDF leader called for the immediate recovery of
the village from those allegedly occupying it, the safe return and
rehabilitation of the 35 displaced Marma families, and measures to protect
their lives and property. He also demanded legal action against foreign
Rohingya armed groups.
