AN armed gang loyal to Santu Larma, president of Parbatya Chattagram Jana Samhati Samiti (PCJSS), has killed a villager after abducting him in Jurachari under Rangamati district, sources has said.

The victim has been identified as Shanta Chakma alias Ching, 20, son of Padma Lochan Chakma.

He is believed to be an ardent supporter of the United Peoples Democratic Front (UPDF), which has been calling for Santu Larma to end the fratricidal conflict that has killed hundreds of activists on both sides.

According to sources, Santu loyalists raided Boroitali village in Jurachari Upazila last night and abducted him at gun point.

The miscreants took him to a nearby jungle and knifed him to death.

His body was found in the morning today about half a kilometer away from the village.

The UPDF Jurachari Unit has condemned the killing as “cowardly” and urged Santu Larma to shun politics of violence and forge a united front with UPDF.
