Two Jumma villagers arrested in Baghaichari

THE Border Guards Bangladesh has arrested two Jumma villagers in Baghaichari in Rangamati district.

According to sources, the arrest was made during a raid in Babupara, a Jumma neighborhood in Baghaichari Upazila headquarters, at about 12 noon today.

A group of BGB, a paramilitary border security force, led by Lt. Col. Parvez Majumder of 39 battalion, carried out the raid that led to the arrest of Monotosh Chakma, 45, son of Sona Dhan Chakma, Suresh Kanti Chakma, 48, son of Bangali Charan Chakma.

The BGB also searched their houses and that of two others -- Begol Chan Chakma, 45, son of Chitta Mohan Chakma and Amar Shanti Chakma, 35, son of Ajit Kumar Chakma.

However, no incriminating materials have been found during the search, the villagers said adding, “The arrested villagers are completely innocent.”

They have been being held in the BGB camp till the filing of this report at 3pm.
