THE armed militants loyal to Santu Larma have shot dead Kanongkor Chakma, 28, a supporter of the Rupayan Dewan faction of the PCJSS.

The incident took place on Sunday night, at 11pm, 26 June, to be exact, in the village of Pablakhali under Khedarmara Union of Baghaichari Upazila in Rangamati district. His father's name is Tarun Kanti Chakma. According to sources, a group of Santu loyalists dragged him out of his house and shot him dead.
"He was shot in the head and chest," a villager told chtnews.com on condition of anonymity.

He said the killing may have been the result of a family feud with Pritish Babu, a member of the Santu group. Sama Shanti Chakma, organiser of UPDF Baghaichari Upazila unit, has condemned the killing and called on the people to resist the anti-Jumma policies of the Santu group.

According to PCJSS (Rupayan), at least 16 of their members and supporters have been killed by Santu group since they broke away from Larma in 2006.
