AN
EIGHT-MONTH old baby boy is alleged to have been kidnapped in Ruma Upazila in
the southern district of Bandarban, according a bdnews24.com report.
The
kidnapping took place in remote Adikapara village on Monday afternoon.
Ruma
Upazila chairman Aung Thoaiching Marma confirmed the incident, saying: ‘The
baby, Bidrojoy Tripura, was sleeping in his cradle in a jum house while his parents, Hatiram
Tripura and Hamboti Tripura, were working in the jum field. Their 7-year old daughter
Anamika Tripura was also in the house.’
Quoting
his daughter Anamika Tripura, Hatiram said that a bearded Bengali man had
picked up the baby from the cradle and taken him away in the presence of
Anamika Tripura.
`Because
of the remoteness of the area, I am getting a bit late in registering a complaint
with the police.’ he said.
Md.
Zakir Hossain, the officer-in-charge of Ruma Thana, said he had not received
any complaint about the kidnapping. ‘I will take action when I receive it’, he
added.
