Innocent villager arrested in Baghaichari

THE Border Guards Bangladesh personnel yesterday arrested an innocent Jumma villager named Hironmoy Chakma, 45, from Baribindu Ghat in Baghaichari Upazila in Rangamati district.

Hironmoy, son of Krishna Mohan Chakma and a resident of Golachari village under Rupokari Union, was arrested by a joint team of BGB and police at 2:30pm on Sunday.

He is a boatman by profession and earns his living by ferrying people across the river Kassalong at Baribindu Ghat.

He is believed to have been detained in connection with the kidnapping of five Teletalk employees couple of days ago in the area.

He is being kept in Baghaichari police station. No further details are available.
