TWO Union Council chairmen were manhandled by an army commander in Kudukchari army camp in Rangamati district on Sunday.

Major Touhid, commander of Kudukchari army camp, called Ghilachari Union Council chairman Amar Jibon Chakma and Burighat Union Council chairman Pramod Bikash Chakma to his camp to pressure them over some vehicle keys that had been taken away from drivers by pickets during a road blockade enforced by the Democratic Youth Forum.

‘Why the hell you guys always come late when I ask you to come? I told you about this in the past. I have taken the matter very seriously.’ an angry Touhid told the two chairmen who went to the camp after attending a coordination meeting of the Upazila Parishad in Naniachar.

A Warrant officer who was standing beside the major chipped in: ‘Sir has given you half an hour to return the keys. If you fail, then there will be troubles.’

The major then gave them his mobile number so that they could contact him later.
