A JUMMA teenage girl belonging to Chakma community
was reportedly raped on Wednesday while she was out for a morning walk near a
navy camp at Kaptai, Rangamati, according to Manob Kantha, a Bengali national
daily.
The police have confirmed the incident, saying that the
victim, a class nine student, had been first brought to the Victim Support
Centre at Rangamati Kotwali Thana, before admitting her to Rangamati General
Hospital.
The victim told reporters that she had went out for
a walk, as she always did, on Kaptai Sweden Polytechnic Institute road at 5am.
“At 5am four men came in an autorickshaw, got down,
pressed my mouth with their hands, huddled me into the autorickshaw and then
took me to Shahid Moazzem Navy Camp road. From there they led me to a nearby
jungle and then raped.” she added.
After raping her, the attackers got her back to the
same autorickshaw, took her to BSPI road, pushed her from the autorickshaw to
the ground and then sped away, she said.
She somehow walked back home and informed her
parents about the incident.
The victim said that her rapists were all Bengali
and that she could recognize two of them.
“Two of them drive autorickshaws at kaptai and I
know them,” she said.
