A
JUMMA couple was wounded when they came under attack by a group of fanatic
Bengali settlers in Alikadam in the southern most Chittagong Hill Tracts on
Monday, April 18.
The
attack took place after the bodies of three Bengali cattle traders, believed to
have been kidnapped and murdered, were recovered in nearby Thanchi Upazila.
On
the day of incident, Jonak Tripura and his wife were walking down a road at
Chowmuhoni bus terminal area when the settlers, angry over the death of the
cattle traders, swooped on them, injuring them severely.
Both
the husband and wife were admitted to the local health complex with multiple
injuries, sources said.
When
informed, a strong contingent of army, BGB and police personnel rushed to the
spot, charged baton into the crowd and brought the situation under control.
