THE army on Sunday
night searched two houses including that of a Union Council member in Ramgarh,
Khagrachari district.
According to sources,
a group of army men from Guimara sub zone raided the village of Kalapani in
Ramgarh and carried out the searches in the small hours of June 13.
The houses searched
belong to Manendra Chakma, a member of Patachara Union Council, and his
neighbour Pratap Singh Chakma.
The soldiers turned
the houses upside down, and while searching Pratap Singh Chakma's house they
asked the inmates: 'Who came here yesterday? Who held a meeting here?'
However no
incriminating materials were found during the hour-long search.
Manendra Chakma
confirmed to the chtnews.com that his house and Pratap
Singh Chakma's house were searched.
'I went to the camp in
the morning today and asked the commander why they searched my house.' he said.
He said the commander
admitted that 'it was a mistake.'
'The commander told me
that my house was searched by mistake and that they had actually gone there to
search another person's house.' Manendra added.
