Members of the Bangladesh Army searched an innocent
villager’s home during the ongoing military operation in Panchari, Khagrachari
district.
The search took place today, Thursday (28 August 2025)
at 2 PM in Bharatborsho Para of Logang Union.
The villager whose home was searched is Bulumoni
Chakma (40), son of the late Birolya Chakma, resident of Bharatborsho Para,
Logang Union Parishad, Panchhari, Khagrachari.
According to sources, at around 10 AM today, a group
of 40 to 45 army personnel in three vehicles from the Panchari sub-zone joined
other soldiers already stationed in the Harubil area. From there, a force of 50
to 60 soldiers moved through Hatimara of Dhudukchara, passed through Prem Kumar
Para, and reached Bharatborsho Para, where they conducted a search at Bulumoni
Chakma’s house.
During the search, the soldiers reportedly asked the
resident whether he had a “gun” and said, “If you have a gun, give it to us,
we’ll give you money.”
Afterward, the soldiers moved on to the Machyachara
Koroi Bagan area.
Earlier, on the previous day, the army conducted
searches at the homes of three individuals in Jagpara of Chengi Union: a widow
named Chuluk Pudi Chakma (36), wife of the late Hirohito Chakma; Bijuram Chakma
(55), father's name unknown; and Pradeep Chakma (40), son of Rangamorat Chakma.
Meanwhile, it has been reported that armed members of
the JSS (Santu Group) are openly present in areas near Prem Kumar Para and the
Machyachara Koroi Bagan — specifically in Birojoy Para and Margabazar. They
were reportedly present there yesterday as well. However, despite being armed,
locals say the army is taking no action against them.
