The
continuous army patrols and the use of drones in Ramgarh, Khagrachari, have
created a sense of panic among the local population.
It is
reported that today, Tuesday, August 26, 2025, at around 4:30 PM, a group of
soldiers from the Batonatori camp traveled in their own vehicle, passing
through Sudurkhil Bazar and Notun Bazar, and headed towards Kalapani village.
Due to the poor condition of the road in front of the mosque in Kalapani, they
left their vehicle and continued on foot, entering Kalapani and Morakallya
villages to conduct a patrol.
During this
time, drones were flown several times, and the soldiers remained in the area
until 7:00 PM. The use of drones caused alarm among the local residents.
During the
patrol, the soldiers informed an elderly resident of Morakallya village that
they had "come to inspect the condition of the road, and it would be
repaired soon through a government tender."
At one point
during the patrol, the soldiers questioned a Bengali woman about the presence
of terrorists, the location of UPDF hideouts, and local life. They asked her if
"terrorists live here, if any semi-pucca houses are being used as
hideouts, if Bengalis are prevented from entering, or if their cars are
vandalized or their keys are stolen."
In response
to the soldiers' questions, the woman said, "There are no terrorists here,
Bengalis are not prevented from coming, and there have been no incidents of
cars being vandalized or keys being stolen. No one comes during the rainy
season because the road is bad. I think there might be a
misunderstanding."
When the
soldiers asked for her phone number, she replied, "There's no network at
my house. You won't be able to reach me even if you call."
Afterward,
at 7:30 PM, the soldiers got into their vehicle in Kalapani village and
returned to the Batnatoli camp via Notun Bazar and Sudurkhil Bazar.
Meanwhile,
another patrol was conducted in Kumari village. A different group of soldiers
from the Batnatoli camp stationed themselves at the Barabelchari Government
Primary School, from where they patrolled the Kumari Para area before returning
to the school.
According to
reports, the soldiers continue to be stationed at the Barabelchari Government
Primary School as of the time of writing. Their patrol and presence have left
the locals feeling anxious.
