Ushatan Chakma, President of the Chatra-Janatar
Sangram Parishad (Student-People’s Movement Council), has urged members of the
Parbatya Chattagram Jana Samhati Samiti (PCJSS) led by Santu Larma to refrain
from activities that go against the interests of the Jumma people. At the same
time, he called on them to stop fratricidal conflict and contribute to building
greater national unity among the Jumma community.
In a post from his personal Facebook account on August
28, 2025, he wrote:
"As the President of the Chhatra-Janatar Sangram
Parishad, I urge the leaders and activists of the JSS (Santu Larma faction) to
refrain from activities that go against the national interests of the Jumma
people.
"I have learned from various sources that members
of the JSS (Santu Larma group) are currently engaging in anti-people activities
in coordination with state forces in areas such as Panchari and Dighinala.
"The leaders and activists of the JSS (Santu
Larma) must remember that the interests of the ruling forces and the interests
of the Jumma people are not the same—rather, they are opposed to each other.
Therefore, trying to harm groups and organizations fighting for the people's
rights by taking the help of the ruling powers is suicidal and detrimental to
national interests. I strongly urge them to refrain from such heinous and
disgraceful activities."
Addressing the JSS members, he further stated:
"To the JSS (Santu Larma) leaders and activists,
I want to say—Bangladesh’s ruling elite uses a strategy of making Jummas fight
against Jummas. Do not become a part of this conspiracy and bring harm to your
own people.
"At a time when the JSS (Santu Larma) leadership
should be striving to establish greater national unity by including all, or
willingly joining others' efforts to build unity and collectively struggle for
rightful demands, engaging in conflict with one’s own brothers without any
reason only benefits the ruling class. This can in no way be seen as an act of
patriotism. Therefore, this role of the JSS (Santu Larma) is completely
unacceptable to the people."
Mr. Ushaton concluded by calling on the JSS (Santu
Larma) members not to act as a "B-Team" of the ruling forces and to
immediately end fratricidal conflict and contribute instead to the
establishment of greater national Jumma unity.
