The
Bangladesh Army personnel carried out searches and attempted to detain an
individual in Panchari in Khagrachari district. However, the attempt to detain
him failed due to resistance from local residents.
According to
sources, at around 4 a.m. today (Monday, October 6, 2025), more than 150 army
personnel arrived in nine vehicles from Khagrachari Sadar and raided the
Jubonash Para area of Panchari. The soldiers surrounded the entire village and
held the villagers hostage. During the operation, they physically assaulted
Atik Moni Chakma (45), son of Jagotsen Chakma, a village chief (Karbari) of
Jagotsen Para.
Later, the
army broke into the house of a member of the UPDF (United People's Democratic
Front) and conducted an extensive search, turning the house upside down. After
the search, the soldiers took away various household items, including blankets.
While
leaving, the army personnel attempted to detain Mongol Jyoti Chakma (40), son
of Sushen Chakma. However, local residents intervened and successfully freed
him from army custody.
It has been
reported that a vigilante named Oitijyo Chakma accompanied the army during the
operation.
